Organic Search

What is organic search?

Organic search refers to the process of getting search results naturally through search engine algorithms (such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.) and it is the opposite of paid search.

About

OS is the procedure of entering one or more keywords into a search engine and getting suggested results.

Organic results are displayed as a list, are ranked based on relevance to the user, and exclude ads (paid search results). In other words, organic search, sometimes referred to as natural search, represents the unpaid results that show up on SERP (search engine result pages).

Most search engines insert paid ads into their results and while those ads are influenced by partnerships or commercial relationships between the website and the search engine or provider, organic search results are not but still have the same amount of relevance to the user.

Why is Important?

Organic search results are based on the relevance of the website’s content to the user's search query and other organic ranking factors.

While nowadays most marketers combine organic with paid search for improved visibility, one must keep in mind that organic search is free and organic search results are consistent and will last longer than paid ones.

What is Organic Search Engine Optimization?

Organic SEO is the method used for getting a higher ranking on a SERP through algorithm-driven results. This type of SEO can be done by analyzing and updating a website with relevant content, then spreading that content all over the web. Incorporating organic search engine optimization also has the following benefits:

  • Generates more traffic in the long term as organically optimized websites remain relevant to the keyword query
  • Builds more stable trustworthiness among people
  • Is more cost-effective in comparison to Pay Per Click campaigns
