A unique visitor (or unique user) is a person who views a website at least once in a selected time range. The number of unique website visitors can dictate the overall success of a website and can be increased through SEO and other marketing tactics.
About Unique Website Visitors
Visitor Analytics counts unique visitors as the number of people who visit a website at least once in a selected time period. This is one of the most popular website analytics metrics as it helps marketers understand website user behavior, in order to set goals, price products, and complete other important activities.
In the Visitor Analytics Overview the following information about visitors is displayed:
- Uniques Visitors
- Map of live visitors
- The 6 latest visitors
- Map of visitors by country
All this information can be viewed in more detail in the Visitor Analytics Dashboard.
How are Unique Visitors counted?
Visitor Analytics counts unique visitors as the number of distinct individuals that visited a website for the first time in a selected time period (today, last 7 days, last 4 weeks or any custom period of time chosen by the user). If a visitor comes to the same website 2 times in the selected time range, it will be counted once as a unique visitor and once as a returning visitor.
