All the most important KPIs of your website's performance at a glance
Within this web statistics overview, you are being presented the most useful KPIs about your website's traffic, on a selectable timescale:
- Returning Visitors: How many visitors have visited your website at least 2 times.
- New Visitors: Visitors that have never visited your website before (Unique visitors).
- Sessions: All the sessions made by the visitors in the selected time range. A session represents the time period in which a visitor browsed your website. One visitor can produce multiple sessions. A new session is created if more than 3 hours have passed since the last visit of that visitor.
- Average sessions per user: Average amount of sessions throughout all your visitors in the selected time period.
- Page visits: Amount of page visits that were made by your visitors. One visitor can generate multiple page visits.
- Average pages per session: Average amount of pages visited during a visitor's session. This number is calculated using all your visitors in the selected time period.
- Average session duration: Average duration of all sessions generated by all your visitors in the selected time period.
- Bounce rate: The percentage of visits when the visitor left your website after only a one-page view. It does not matter how long the visitor was on the page or how they left. We call it a "bounce" if it is a visit with only one interaction with your website.
- Visitors overall: The sum of all types of visitors (new, returning, converted) that have visited your website during the selected time period. This is the default "big" graph which appears when opening this module, but it can be easily replaced by any of the smaller ones, by simply selecting any of them.
Traffic is the soul of your website. If there are visitors, there will be clients. Use this information to check how the performance of your website has reacted to actions that you took.
- Each small graph can be expanded by simply selecting it, thus replacing the bigger chart beneath.
- Graphs that contain an average, will not take into account the zeros to be calculated (where applicable). For instance, if the selected time range is last 7 days, but there are visits only for today and for the 4th day back, and 0 data for the others, the averages will be calculated using only these 2 days.
- Theaverage session duration will not take into account the sessions with only one visited page. Therefore, it may display a not so accurate time for one-page websites (or sessions that contain only one visit), unless the site is reloaded multiple times. This happens due to the fact that the time spent on the site is deducted as the sum of the exact time of a visit on the first page and the exact time on the next page(s).
Set the time
Just right above the diagrams there is a date selector, which enables you to choose a certain time range or even a day for which the data below should correspond to. It is important to constrain the date range to certain periods of time in which you ran potential campaigns or took other measures in order to measure how successful these actions were for future planning.
- The date picker allows you to pick the earliest possible start date, the day this feature has been released. If there is a data reset event for your site (which took place after the launch date), then the start date for data analysis in this view will be the day the reset was accomplished.
- You can also choose whether you want to show the data based on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly base.
- By activating the checkbox "Show comparison with previous time period" in the upper right corner, an additional line within the diagrams will be displayed for each graph, showing the data of the previous period for comparison.
When ticking the Show comparison with previous time period checkbox, a second dashed orange line will be added to all graphs. These lines will display data which had been tracked for the time period previous to the currently selected one. Hence, if the selected period to analyze is this week, the previous period would be the same number of days, but from before the current week.
- The comparison will also be defined as – colored in green or red – percentages, depending on the increase or decrease of data.
- The percentage color for increasing / decreasing the bounce-rate will be reversed, since a decrease in bounce rate indicates an improvement.
- If one of the lines in the graphs – green or dashed orange one – maintains a level 0 for the entire selected period, the percentage comparison is not applicable.
- The Visitors pie-chart will be replaced by two bar-charts to easily compare whether your website has been viewed often by new or returning visitors.
This will grant you the opportunity to see how your KPIs have developed over time.
- A lot of elements contain options to hover information or further actions. Just let your cursor run over various elements and discover how much data is actually packed into the view.
- Almost all views and some single elements display a little "i-icon", giving you yet more information about the view/element. Hover these icons for more information.
- In the upper right corner of each view you have the „Reload“ icon: The turning arrow will refresh the entire page on click.
